EXPLORE MORZINE

Morzine is a stunning alpine town located in the French Alps, known for its vast array of outdoor activities. It is part of the larger Portes du Soleil ski area, which spans the French-Swiss border. Steeped in Tour de France folklore, the area is famed for its stunning landscapes, winding mountain roads and breath-taking descents amidst stunning alpine scenery.

  • Just minutes away from our accommodation, open-water lovers will revel in the clear waters of Lac Montriond.

Surrounded by lush forests and towering mountains, it creates the definitive stunning backdrop for your swim.

Morzine also boasts a 50m outdoor and a 25m indoor pool – just in case the elements do not support our desire to embrace the open water!

  • Morzine's legendary alpine climbs and routes are a the perfect setting for triathletes seeking to challenge themselves. Conquer steep ascents and exhilarating descents that test your endurance (and bike skills). For those new to Alpine riding we will discuss and coach best safe practices for these. Safety will always be paramount.

  • Morzine's extensive network of trails caters to all levels of runners. Whether you're seeking a challenging trail run or a leisurely jog, the diverse terrain has you covered.

Whilst we may have to forgo a mountain marathon, there are an abundance of run options that afford time to build volume and, where planned, conduct analysis.

A DAY AT CAMP

Each week is planned to meet the individual and collective needs of the athletes attending.

The following therefore is an example of a potential training day, specifically one of the more extended sessions. (Please note that you wouldn't be required to engage in three sessions daily!)

A typical day will have two sessions. One session will always be a bike of varied distance and intensity, the other a swim or run.

Volume underpins the week and in order to achieve this, the majority of the load will be on the bike (as this is the most repeatable activity to exploit VO2 development).

In the evenings there will a selection of educational discussions and activities including nutrition, strength, yoga, biomechanics, aerodynamics and bike maintenance.

  • Built around a typical continental breakfast (bakery bread, croissants, jams and butter), along with porridge, scrambled eggs, homemade granola and fruits.

Specific dietary requirements can naturally be accommodated.

  • Gather your gear and essentials as you prepare for an action-packed day.

Each athlete is given a box for key items they need for that day’s bike (including nutrition, wet and cold weather clothing etc).

  • Summarising bike brief from the previous evening - highlighting any route changes or safety points. Ensuring all riders are ready to go.

  • In allocated groups (8 riders maximum), set off for that day’s ride.

  • Typically, a pre-chosen sandwich baguette with drinks and ancillaries.

  • Enjoy a well deserved French Press coffee or tea with a slice or two of homemade cake.

  • For the second activity of the day, you'll participate in either a swim, run, strength training or teaching period as scheduled.

  • Three-course dinner designed to refuel, rebuild and replenish.

  • Each evening the coaches will prepare and deliver a presentation which opens into a discussion. Topics include nutrition, strength training, longevity over 50 and stroke analysis.

Additional Info

Offering a seamless experience is paramount to us. Below are essential details to help you to be fully equipped for your Alps Camp.

  • Sophie, our chef and pâtissier, will provide a range of foods and meals that ensure you will sated and nourished.

  • By plane – the nearest airport is Geneva. Transfers from and back to GVA are included.

By train the nearest station is Cluses. Again, transfers are included.

There is parking available for those who drive.

  • Towels and bedding are provided, you just need to bring kit and equipment for training.

Whilst some nutrition will be available on rides (outside of lunch time), it is advisable to bring your own tried and tested nutrition, remembering the importance of practicing your own fuelling strategies for races.

  • Each week is designed around the athletes attending.

Volume is the primary aim, however not volume just for the sake of it.

We want athletes to be able to absorb and adapt, which does not happen if you take an age group athlete training 6 hours a week and load them with 25 hours!

The training volume and intensity will therefore be optimised for each athlete’s base and their immediate and mid-term aims.

  • The Alps are consistently inconsistent!

June typically brings all seasons -often all in one day.

Therefore, in terms of kit and clothing bring all you need for conditions ranging from 30°C to cold and windchill close to freezing.

We will provide a kit list to all attendees!

  • For those interested, there are bike hire options available.

For example, the cost for a Cervelo Caledonia Di2 Ultegra Disc is around €300 for the week.

  • We arrange and book sessions each day with a local sports masseuse. They come to us - you just have to get onto the bed.

UPCOMING CAMPS

TriMorzine camps are tailor-made for the participating athletes. Glyn and Scott consistently coach around 20 athletes throughout the year, who will make up the core attendees. However, there are a few available slots for additional participants.

Part of the registration process includes a conversation with Glyn or Scott. During this discussion, we'll delve into your experience, current training level, and goals for the season. Based on this, we'll recommend the most suitable week for you to join.

The essence of each week's program primarily revolves around building volume, especially in cycling. The Alps provide an ideal setting for this purpose! Our objective is to push your limits and provide as much volume as you can comfortably handle and adapt to.

WEEK TWO (8TH - 14TH JUNE)

Frequently Asked Q’s

This is not ideal for someone returning to training after a six-month gap for example. A decent guideline would be if you are regularly training 6 hours and above.

  • You make TriMorzone Camps unique!

Apart from being glib, this is because each camp is kept to a small amount of athletes and each week is planned / personalised to them.

  • Yes - you need to bring all equipment for a training week. There are shops in the event that things get left behind, or break, but do not rely on being able to replace everything.

  • Yes – athletes need to be at least 18 years old.

  • No, not really.

We are happy to have some liaise with your coach prior to the week, however once we have designed the week, that becomes what you have paid for.

Glyn and Scott can adapt as the week develops and differentiate if needed.

  • We have limited the total number of athletes to 10. This means you have our attention in and outside of training sessions, and goes a long way to ensure that everybody get the maximum out of the week.

  • Yes – before each camp commences, we send out a questionnaire. Let us know what special requirements or allergies you have and we will design accordingly.
